IF YOUR CONTINUE TO DO BUSINESS THE WAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE, YOU’RE IN DANGER.

Business owners frequently feel like they are stuck on an island – just them and a pile of problems to keep them company. If your business is standing still, you’re falling backwards – at least that’s what it feels like and you need to start moving forward again.

Everything in life moves from remarkable to ordinary to death (meaning it no longer satisfies). Anything that is done exactly the same over and over again moves from “remarkable to ordinary”

If you keep going back to that same restaurant and ordering the same meal over and over again, it will get a little less remarkable each time until it’s not just ordinary, but you no longer like it.

If this happens in our personal lives, you try something different to what you’re already doing. The simple act of switching things up breathes fresh air into your sails and allows you to feel alive again.

If you feel your business is in a rut, you can turn it into a golden opportunity to move forward toward a new, exciting direction.

HOW DO YOU BREAK OUT OF THIS RUT?

  1. Revisit your goals

Taking time to revisit why you do what you do will help you to identify if you have gone off track in business. Remember when you first started you had a clear vision of what you wanted. If you have lost some of that buzz and excitement it is time to revisit them.

  1. Find a great professional advisor

Finding and developing a strong relationship with a trusted advisor is a great way to break out of a rut. The key is to find someone who can put a different perspective on it. A great business advisor has the experience to deal with the problems you face and can look at things in a different and refreshing way. When you do find one, meet with them often, they can be a real lifeline to your business.

  1. An advisor can hold you accountable

You need to be accountable for your own actions, but sometimes you need a nudge to regain your confidence and motivation. In the same way people use a professional personal trainer to help get fit or lose weight. You need to do the same for your business and start moving forward again. A great advisor has the business experience, knowledge and skills to help you get back on track. By meeting up regularly with an advisor you can work through what’s working and what’s not and how to fix it. Receiving honest feedback through someone else’s eyes may be just what you need to revive your determination to succeed.

  1. New & Fresh Ideas

You have doing the same thing and selling the same products for years and haven’t taken the time to find out how your clients have changed over the years and what their new expectations are. Find out how they changed; is there something else you can offer that they now need?  Dig deeper and get to know them better.

  1. Focus on the wins not the failures

If you have had a string of losses, it can be easy for you to fall into a rut. When you are so focused on the failures, you forget and about the successes and how to be successful. This affects everything as you know longer feel your best is enough. Focus on past wins and look more towards what future wins you want to achieve.

  1. Stop doing everything yourself

While at first it may seem like a money saving idea, it can take its toll as the workload increases.  Delegate more tasks to others. Consider hiring an assistant or a bookkeeper and break free of the mentality that you have to do it all yourself.

Running a business is no easy task that’s for sure.. There are many ways to break through the rut you may be going through and come out the other side on top.
